Jermey McGovern has put his hand up to play in the ruck this AFL season, but the star West Coast defender doubts whether his wish will be granted.
The Eagles’ ruck stocks have been depleted heading into 2017, with Nic Naitanui (knee) set to miss most of the season, and Scott Lycett (shoulder) facing three months on the sidelines.
Former Roo Drew Petrie and ex-Cat Nathan Vardy are almost certain to be paired in the ruck in Sunday’s clash with North Melbourne, but McGovern says he is eager to help if his services are needed.
