Cats’ Gregson to miss rest of AFL season

Geelong youngster Cory Gregson will miss the rest of the AFL season because of a foot injury.

Gregson, who was dropped by the Cats in round 16, recently had scans that revealed a stress fracture in his foot.

“Cory suffered some slight pain that progressed and he was immediately sent for scans,” Geelong football manager Steve Hocking said.

“Normally the recovery period for an injury like this is 8-10 weeks, meaning Cory will not be available again until 2017.”

The 19-year-old, nominated for the league’s Rising Star award in 2015, has played a total of 29 games.
