The AFL Commission has decided against moving the grand final from its traditional afternoon time slot.
League chief executive Gillon McLachlan made the announcement on Friday afternoon, adding they would continue to review it annually.
There has been growing speculation about a possible move from the traditional 2.30pm opening bounce, to either a twilight or night grand final.
“I thought going into the (commission) meeting the decision could have gone either way,” McLachlan said.
“But on balance, everyone was very comfortable to keep it (a day grand final).
“There will be a lot of people happy to keep it where it is.
“I’m sure there will be a change (at some stage).”
