Mark Williams favourite to take St Kilda coaching job

Former Port Adelaide premiership coach Mark Williams is the hot favourite to replace Scott Watters at St Kilda.

Watters was sensationally sacked on Friday, just hours after saying on radio he had the full support of the Saints board.

Williams is the $1.50 short priced favourite with Betstar to take over the senior coaching role at St Kilda, while former Saints skipper and Brownlow medallist Robert Harvey is second in betting at $5.50.

“Mark Williams has all the credentials and the Saints need an experienced coach to take the reins and steer this club back on track,” Betstar’s Alan Eskander said.

“We’ve installed him as $1.50 favourite to be appointed senior coach at St Kilda for season 2014. The Saints’ favourite son Robert Harvey is a $5.50 chance. He’s had a great apprenticeship at Collingwood and was named best senior assistant this year.”

Recently sacked Brisbane Coach, Michael Voss is currently $7 to take over the top job at the Saints, as is Simon Goodwin.

Former Eagles Peter Sumich and John Worsfold are currently $9 and $11 respectively in the market, while Leigh Tudor has also been installed an $11 chance.
