Rosehill is the venue for Sydney’s premier meeting on Saturday in which the Group 3 Sand Domenico Stakes headlines the eight race card where we see the return of Sidestep and Whittington.

Rosehill racecourse is currently a Good 3 and the weather is forecast to be fine so we will be racing on top of the ground on Saturday.

Race One: Dooleys (bm75) 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Happy Clapper raced wide on debut then was held up in the straight but hit the line well once clear. That was his debut run and he will definitely improve from it and be very hard to beat in this race.
Don’t Back Me: Kirov has won his last two although this looks a much tougher race than his last win and two starts ago Happy Clapper would have beaten him home with some luck so i’m happy to leave him out here.
Big Danger: Champagne Cath won super impressively on debut last preparation then came back this prep and did a lot but was still disappointing. Should take a lot of improvement from that run and be hard to beat here.
Roughie:Mr Entertainer has run second at his last two starts so i was surprised when his odds of $14 opened. Hit the line well at Rosehill two weeks ago and will be right in this at good odds.

Race Two: Clubsnsw Spring Preview Hcp 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Havana Rey will have to carry the big weight in the race of 61kg although he will be racing on speed here and there doesn’t look to be any pace in the race. He will go forward and dictate from the front and be very hard to run down at $4.80.
Don’t Back Me: Honorius is a very good horse although first up over 1400m will not suit him at all especially in a race with what looks to be no tempo in it. Watch for him over further.
Big Danger: Coup Ay Tee was very impressive last start when getting a late split to win Listed Winter Challenge on the line. Will get a good run from barrier 2 and will be hitting the line well late.
Roughie: I’m Imposing is an interesting runner who has plenty of talent although had his fare share of problems. If he is back to his best he will go close here but may need a few runs. Happy to include him at the big odds of $26 though in a winnable race.

Race Three: Fairfield Rsl Club (bm80) 1800m Form Guide

Back Me: Gliding has looked like she has been crying out for further distance and she gets that here over 1800m. Take her wet track runs out as she doesn’t handle it and last start she had nothing go right so i’m happy to forgive those and take the $13 on offer for her Saturday.
Don’t Back Me: Tenby Lady could have been a little unlucky last start although i feel she had her chance in a race she was entitled to win. This looks a very open race so i wouldn’t be touching the $3.80 for her.
Big Danger: Titbit will get in well in the weights with the 3kg claim and she has been racing very consistently this preparation and i think she will go very close once again.
Roughie: San Zaim was pocketed last start which cost her a closer finish to the winner on the line. She has a very good third up record which she is on Saturday having won 3 from 4 third up runs so the $31 on offer looks great value.

Race Four: Merrylands Rsl Club (bm80) 1500m Form Guide

Back Me: Burbero drops back in grade here which he has a very good record in, although the biggest advantage for him on Saturday will be that he will be racing back racing on a good track in which he has a record of five wins from five tries on.
Don’t Back Me: Magic In The Mix had every chance last start in what looks to be a rather weak form race. So i am happy to forgo the $3.70 odds bookmakers are offering for him.
Big Danger: Photon Willie was disappointing last start in which i thought he was a very good chance of winning. Happy to give him another try here and again he looks well suited in this race.
Roughie: Magic Weekend is a good horse on his day and back on a good track with Nash on board i am expecting him to run close to. $19 is on offer which looks great value in a winnable race.

Race Five: Hurlstone Park Rsl Club (bm90) 1200m Form Guide

Back Me: Altius did a lot wrong last start in what looks to be the form race here and wasn’t beaten far on the line. He will get the services of Nash Rawiller and from barrier 5 will box seat in the race just off the quick tempo and be hard to beat at $11.
Don’t Back Me: Catkins has a very good first up record although i think she has found a tough race to return in this preparation and will find it hard against the boys in a race that on paper looks like there will be good tempo.
Big Danger: Velrosso was massive last start coming from well back to win in what was a slowly run race. Looks to be better speed here which will set it up for him to show his turn of foot once again.
Roughie: Carry Me Bluey will jump at terrific odds on Saturday and a race i feel he has a good chance in. he has a good first up record and likes the distance. Will get a good run from barrier 2 so he is definitely worth an each way bet at the $41 on offer.

Race Six: San Domenico Stakes 1100m Form Guide

Back Me: Whittington has been given two decent trials heading into this race on Saturday and from barrier 3 he will have the gate speed to go to the front and dictate the race. Will be rearing to go first up and will take a lot of beating.
Don’t Back Me: Windjammer comes into the race with a run under his belt although that was in much easier company and he has been well beaten by some of these horses before and i think that will be the case again on Saturday.
Big Danger: Sidestep i think is the best horse in the race when looking at ability although first up over the 1100m i think might be a bit too sharp for him. He will be doing his best work late and will still be hard to beat but hasn’t been put on top for that reason.
Roughie: Never Can Tell i feel flew under the radar a bit as a two year old when racing very well in his races on top of the ground. Should come back a better horse this preparation and will be a Spring contender thus the $10 on offer looks great value.

Race Seven: Mounties Group (bm80) 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Lilliburlero wasn’t suited last start and racing wide throughout certainly didn’t help. She has drawn well here in barrier 2 and over 1400m will be very hard to beat against this field.
Don’t Back Me: Total Attraction went close last start although im not sure how good of a form race that was. Has been lumped a big weight but the claim will help although from barrier 10 i feel it is hard for an apprentice to put her in a winning position here.
Big Danger: Song And Laughter has been stepping up through the grades nicely although last start she was way out of her depth i think a race like this is very winnable for her and looks great value in the market.
Roughie: Sastruga has been disappointing in her last two runs although she has shown she is much better than that when right. She will be back on top of the ground here, drops in weight and from an inside barrier will have all the favours. At $11 i’m happy to give her one more chance.

Back Me: Punch Your Weight’s run last start i thought was very good. He has again well here and will get every chance with Jim Cassidy on board. Looks like he will the increase in distance and will be hard to beat at $13.
Don’t Back Me: Travolta could certainly win this in what is a very open race although with 61kg on his back he will have to do it the hard way.
Big Danger: Less Is More was bolting behind the winners last start and looked as if he would have won with a leg in the air had he gotten out. Money has come for him which has taken the value which is why he isn’t on top.
Roughie: Ironstein i thought was very good first up this preparation. He always races better second up and with the 3kg claim he comes into the weights well. He will be looking for further although he can definitely win here on class so the $26 on offer looks good value.
