In Flight to travel again for Sir John Monash Stakes 2025

True to her name, In Flight is preparing for yet another journey—this time to Melbourne, where she’ll tackle Saturday’s Group 3 John Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield.

Trained by Joseph Pride, the in-form four-year-old heads south after securing consecutive listed victories at both Doomben and Randwick, and now eyes a maiden Group race win.

“I will have In Flight in Melbourne so I’m going to go down there,” Pride said.

Craig Williams has been booked for the ride, currently sitting just behind Blake Shinn in the Victorian Metropolitan Jockeys Premiership.

“Craig Williams will ride her,” Pride said.

“He had about twenty minutes warning and he came back to me and now knows more about her than I do.

“He is a freak. I love Craig.

“That definitely gives me confidence that he has watched her videos and been happy to jump on.”

Pride’s visit will be his second to Melbourne in a matter of weeks, having been at Caulfield on June 28 to watch stablemate The Black Cloud go down narrowly.

Although his Melbourne appearances are infrequent—with just three winners there in the past five years—Pride is optimistic In Flight can lift that number.

“She has come back super. She couldn’t be better. I trialled her during the week and she is going great,” Pride said.

In Flight has started favourite in her last two wins and again tops early markets for the John Monash Stakes, currently rated a $2.80 favourite in the weight-for-age feature.
