Race 1 – 1:00pm – Ladbroke It! Plate (1200m)
I think that Awe will take plenty of improvement into his second campaign start at Ladbrokes Park on Wednesday, and he can fight out the finish.
The Group 3 Pago Pago proved to be a bridge too far for the Hinchinbrook gelding on debut and he was immediately returned to the paddock, and I thought that there was plenty of like about his resuming effort for fourth at Pakenham.
He strips fitter and we can have an each-way play at the price.
Race 2 – 1:35pm – Ladbrokes Easy Form Plate (1400m)
Caliper was far from disgraced when finishing fifth, beaten two lengths at The Valley when resuming, and this looks a great opportunity for him to break his maiden.
The Star Witness filly finished a credible seventh in the Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield in February, in what was his only other career start to date.
This looks to be the easiest race for which she has been set, and Craig Williams retains the ride.
Race 3 – 2:10pm – Ladbrokes Same Race Multi Handicap (1400m)
Stelvio can return to winning form third-up at Ladbrokes Park on Wednesday.
The well-bred gelding flashed home to score at Pakenham when resuming, and he kept all of his best work for late again when third, beaten less than a length in a similar contest here last time.
Fitter third-up and under Damien Oliver, this looks a lovely race for him.
Race 4 – 2:45pm – Ladbrokes Bet Ticker Handicap (2400m)
Reflect The Stars looks beautifully placed to strike at Ladbrokes Park on Wednesday.
The Starspangledbanner mare only just missed in the VOBIS Gold Stayers at Caulfield in late July, and repeated that effort to finish second behind a very impressive Smokin’ Romans at The Valley on McKenzie Stakes Day.
There isn’t a horse of that calibre engaged in this contest and with even luck in running, I can’t find a reason why she won’t be in the finish.
Race 5 – 3:20pm – MRC Membership Guarantee Handicap (1600m)
Quintello is chasing a hat-trick of wins when she steps out at Ladbrokes Park this week, and this shapes as another very winnable race.
The Intello mare returned a bullish performance to greet the judge nearly five lengths ahead of her rivals at Warracknabeal when fresh, and the franked that effort when an easy winner here last time.
Fitter third-up and out to a mile, she can continue her rise through the grades.
Race 6 – 3:55pm – IVE Print Handicap (1600m)
Mahashakti was disappointing at Caulfield when fresh, but this is a decent drop in class, and I am more than happy to give her another chance.
The Mahisara mare was nothing short of outstanding during her debut preparation, and won each of her four starts leading into a break, continuing to improve as the bar was raised.
She does clearly enjoy sharp improvement with a run under her belt and she gets some relief in the weights this week under Tahlia Hope.
Race 7 – 4:30pm – Ladbrokes Handicap (1200m)
Evening Glory can return to winning form in the penultimate race at Ladbrokes Park this week.
The Smart Missile gelding is yet to run a place in three starts back this time, but he hasn’t been far away from the winner at each, and enters this contest off the back of a credible fourth behind Elephant at Caulfield.
He looks to be striking this race in peak condition and he’s drawn to receive a lovely run under claiming apprentice Matthew Cartwright.
Race 8 – 5:05pm – Ladbrokes Punter Assist Handicap (1400m)
He’s The Real Deel will take a power of beating in the last at Ladbrokes Park this week.
The Dundeel gelding has recorded two wins from as many starts this time in, and he has so-far owned one of the standout performances of the season, in which he gave his rivals windburn in a similar contest here last time.
I expected to see him in a Saturday metro race following that effort, and he is therefore my best bet on the program.
