News:
Andrew Noblet is preparing to saddle up arguably his best chance yet in a Group One race in the Australasian Oaks.
Melbourne-based trainer Noblet has $5.50 favourite Silent Sedition in Saturday’s 2000m race at Morphettville.
And he is hoping stablemate Super Cash can gain a start in the Group One Robert Sangster Stakes in which she is first emergency.
Noblet is originally from Adelaide, and started out working for leading trainer Leon Macdonald and later became the trainer’s Melbourne foreman before starting his own career in Victoria in 2003.
A Group One win in Adelaide would be special.
“For that reason it would be nice, but I’ll take a Group One anywhere,” Noblet said.
The trainer’s best result at the elite level is Sistine Angel’s second to champion Black Caviar in the Robert Sangster Stakes in Adelaide four years ago.
Silent Sedition has been aimed at the Australasian Oaks (2000m) and pressed her claims when she won the Group Three Auraria Stakes, a traditional lead-up, over 1800m last start.
She has barrier seven in a capacity field but if the emergencies don’t gain a start she will jump from gate five which Noblet believes is perfect.
“She’s had a good preparation,” he said.
“It’s been as good as we hoped for so far. This is the main aim and hopefully she’s there at the end on Saturday.”
If Super Cash doesn’t gain a start in the Group One, Noblet will run her in the Group Two sprint for three-year-olds on the same program.
Super Cash has raced in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide this campaign and was a fast-finishing third to Don’t Doubt Mamma last start.
“She looks super,” Noblet said.
“She has done a bit of travelling and you don’t know when it’s the end (of her preparation) but I thought her run last start, with no luck, was really good.
“I’m really happy with her.”
