Jake Noonan’s bid to ride Precious Gem in the Group One Robert Sangster Stakes hinges on his appeal against suspension.

Noonan needs three meetings shaved off a nine-meeting careless riding ban from an incident at Caulfield on Saturday.

He fronts the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board in Melbourne on Wednesday to plead his case.

The Henry Dwyer-trained Precious Gem, who Noonan rode to win the Listed Anniversary Vase at Caulfield last month, is a $13 chance for the Sangster at Morphettville on Saturday.
