News:

Bull Point has found a new home with David Vandyke and the trainer has high hopes his stable debut can bring a rich pay day.

The five-year-old won a barrier trial at Randwick on Tuesday to confirm a trip to the Gold Coast for the $1 million Magic Millions Cup on January 9.

Vandyke is the horse’s fourth trainer with his first, Gai Waterhouse, the only one so far to get him to win.

Bull Point won three races for Waterhouse but his seven placings include a third in the 2014 Group One Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes for Chris Waller.

His latest barrier trial was one of five run on the troubled Kensington track which Vandyke said seemed to come through well.

“The track seemed really good and they didn’t dig it up,” Vandyke said.

“I’m excited about him. He’s won his last two trials and the way he performed today suggests he can be competitive in the Magic Millions Cup.”

Vandyke has replaced Bull Point’s blinkers with a visor which allows horses to some vision of rivals coming alongside them.

“(Jockey) Jason Collett was the one who suggested the visor so the credit goes to him,” Vandyke said.

“I think he needs to see his opposition.”

The trainer said Bull Point was a happy horse at Warwick Farm.

“He has bonded well with his strapper who is his track rider,” he said.

“Hopefully now he can get a win on the board at the Gold Coast.”
