Craig Williams has made a special trip to Mornington to partner Griante in her final hit-out before her Group One mission in Adelaide.

Griante galloped between races on Monday in preparation for a tilt at the Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday.

The David Brideoake-trained mare followed a similar pattern when she had a race-day gallop at Moonee Valley a few days before her Group One victory in The Galaxy at Rosehill in March.

“It’s worked out really well to come to Mornington on a track that’s got nice cushion in it and nice cover,” Williams told racing.com

“He (Brideoake) was really comfortable giving her a good push for her last gallop going into Saturday’s race.

“She looks well, is very balanced and smooth and felt great the way she went through it.”

Williams said Griante worked over 1000m, quickening up over the final 400m and went through her gears in good fashion.

Following her Galaxy victory, Griante returned to Sydney where she finished sixth behind Two Blue in the Sapphire Stakes at Randwick.

Griante shares the top line of betting for the Sangster Stakes with the Tony McEvoy-trained filly Don’t Doubt Mamma.

Williams holds a strong hand in the two feature Group One races on Saturday in Adelaide where he also rides Silent Sedition in the Australasian Oaks.

Silent Sedition won the lead-up, the Auraria Stakes, with Williams aboard on April 23.

The Andrew Noblet-trained filly shares top billing at $5 with Perth filly Arcadia Dream.
