Tomljanovic into French Open second round

Ajla Tomljanovic is the first Australian through to the second round of the French Open after storming past compatriot Casey Dellacqua in straight sets.

Tomljanovic dropped serve in the opening game of the match before taking 12 of the next 14 games to advance 6-2 6-2 in 62 minutes on Monday.

The 22-year-old world No.58 struck 29 winners to Dellacqua’s seven to progress to a second-round meeting on Wednesday with either Italian Camila Giorgi or German Tatjana Maria.

Coached in tandem by Samantha Stosur’s mentor David Taylor, Tomljanovic upset former world No.2 Agnieszka Radwanska en route to the last 16 in Paris last year and looms as a dark horse to make another strong run in 2015.
