Bernard Tomic will head straight into a match with Novak Djokovic after Tomas Berdych pulled out of their first-round clash at the Miami Open.
Tomic booked his spot against the world No.1 in the ATP Tour event in a walkover as Berdych withdrew from the tournament with a back issue.
“Not a good day at the office,” Berdych posted on Twitter.
“Unfortunately I have to pull out from my first round match. My back is not in the 100 per cent conditions (sic) and I have to be careful with my decisions.”
Both Djokovic and Tomic were knocked out of the Indian Wells earlier this month. Djokovic suffered a straight-sets loss to Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber, while the 26-year-old Tomic was shown the door in the first-round by Berdych’s Czech countryman Lukas Rosol.
