Bernard Tomic has beaten Alejandro Gonzalez in the opening round of the Toronto Masters.
The Australian beat the Colombian 6-4 7-6 (1) to book a place in the second round.
Tomic will play Canadian Steven Diez in the next round after the local wildcard beat Kyle Edmund 3-6 6-3 6-2.
