Bernard Tomic is among eight men receiving wild-card invitations for the US Open’s main draw.
The Australian was named as a wild-card entry by the US Tennis Association (USTA) on Wednesday along with France’s Michael Llodra, and Americans Ryan Harrison, Tim Smyczek, NCAA champion Marcos Giron, Wayne Odesnik, Jared Donaldson and Noah Rubin.
Tomic and Llodra got their spots in the main draw via reciprocal agreements the USTA has with the Australian and French tennis federations.
In Tomic’s most recent performance, the 21-year-old was sent out in his opening round at the Cincinnati Masters on Monday after suffering a 6-3 6-2 loss to France’s Gilles Simon.
The US Open begins August 25.
