Teenager earns Australian Open wildcard

Teenager Maddison Inglis will make her maiden appearance in the Australian Open main draw after beating Arina Rodionova 6-4 6-2 in the final of the women’s wildcard playoff.

Rodionova was backing up after getting married on Saturday night and was no match for the WA youngster at Melbourne Park.

Earlier, James Duckworth won the men’s final by walkover after Ben Mitchell made a mad dash to Brisbane to be with his partner for the birth of their first child.
