Daria Gavrilova has defeated German Annika Beck in the first round of the Montreal Cup in Canada.
The 22-year-old Australian edged Beck in straight sets, 6-4 6-3 on a wet opening day.
Gavrilova will play Romanian fifth seed Simona Halep in the second round.
