US Open champion Sam Stosur reached the final of the WTA Tour’s Qatar Open on Saturday when semi-final opponent Marion Bartoli retired with a right leg injury.
Third-seeded Stosur won the first set 6-3 and had two break point opportunities in the first game of the second set.
The Frenchwoman hit a backhand and appeared to wince. She then sought help from the trainer, who examined her calf, and she withdrew.
Stosur will now face the winner of the other semifinal between Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka and fourth-seeded Agenieszka Radwanska.
