Samantha Stosur is into the second round of the Hong Kong Open after beating Lee Ya-Hsuan 6-3 4-6 6-1 in the opening match of the tournament.
World No.43 Stosur needed 1hr 57mins to beat the world No.303 Lee, serving 10 aces and seven double faults in the process.
The 33-year-old Australian hasn’t made it past the second round of a tournament since her fourth-round appearance at the French Open, in which she lost to eventual champion Jelena Ostapenko.
Stosur made it to the second round at the China Open in Beijing last week, but again exited at the hands of Ostapenko.
Stosur will play the winner out of No.4-seed Agnieszka Radwanska and qualifier Ling Zhang in the round of 16 in Hong Kong.
