AP – Australia’s world No.14 Samantha Stosur has wasted little time launching her US Open build up.
Top seed Stosur charged into the second round of the WTA Tour’s Citi Open in Washington when she crushed Russian qualifier Alla Kudryavtseva 6-3 6-0 on Monday.
The 2011 US Open champion did not face a break point and secured victory in 57 minutes.
Former world No.1 Caroline Wozniacki also made serene progress with a 6-1 6-1 win over Japan’s Hiroko Kuwata.
Seventh seed Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium got the better of American Madison Brengle 7-5 6-4.
