Sloane Stephens has won her first grand slam tennis title, routing Madison Keys 6-3 6-0 in the US Open women’s final.
Stephens joined Kim Clijsters (2009) as the only unseeded women to take the US Open title in the Open era, which began in 1968.
The matchup between the No.15-ranked Keys and the unseeded Stephens was the first in a final between Americans at Flushing Meadows since Serena Williams beat her sister Venus in 2002.
