Saville, Rogowska earn Aust Open wildcards

Rising Australian tennis players Luke Saville and Olivia Rogowska have been handed wildcards to play in the main draw at this month’s Australian Open.

Saville, 18, won the boys title at last year’s event and also took out the Wimbledon junior boys title in 2011.

After a successful 2012 he improved his ranking by more than 800 places to reach a career high of 340.

“I feel as if this is a reward for the great year I have had and all the hard work I have put into my tennis,” Saville said.

Rogowska, 21, also heads into the Open on the back of a promising 12 months and has improved her ranking to 113.

Australian Open discretionary wildcards are awarded on the basis of players’ attitude, youth, current form and ranking.
