Red-hot De Minaur storms in Next Gen final

Alex de Minaur has powered his way to the championship match of the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan after beating America’s Francis Tiafoe in four sets.

The Australian world No.18, who is the tournament’s top seed, booked his spot in the decider for the second successive year with a 4-2 4-1 0-4 4-2 win over his 21-year-old opponent.

De Minaur, 20, raced to a comfortable two-set lead before the second-seeded Tiafoe produced some inspired tennis to take the third set.

However, the Sydneysider put that setback firmly behind him by taking the fourth set and will now face either Miomir Kecmanovic or local favourite Jannik Sinner, who meet in the second semi-final.

De Minaur has already beaten 60th-ranked Serb Kecmanovic in the round-robin group stage but has never faced world No.95 Sinner.
