Rain washes out opening day at Queen’s

Four-time champion Lleyton Hewitt’s opening round match against Ivo Karlovic at Queen’s has been pushed back to Tuesday after rain washed out play on Monday.

The 2002 Wimbledon champion is aiming to use the grasscourt tournament to prepare for the third grand slam of the year later this month.

He will play with American Andy Roddick in the doubles at Queen’s.

Hewitt has slipped to a 205 in the world, his worst ranking since January 1998.

Meanwhile compatriot Bernard Tomic has jumped two places to a career-high of 27 in the latest rankings released on Monday.
