Rain stops tennis for 2nd time in Sydney

Rain has again stopped play at the Sydney International, where former Wimbledon semi-finalist Grigor Dimitrov is two games away from defeating Alexandr Dolgopolov.

Fourth-seeded Dimitrov lost the first set 6-4 before a storm stopped play for 90 minutes.

But the world No.28 was a different man upon resumption, taking the second set 6-3 and leading 4-2 in the third to be on the cusp of advancing to the semi-finals.

Frenchman Jeremy Chardy also leads Gilles Muller 7-6 (7-5) in the other quarter-final.

All scheduled matches are still expected to be completed, including Australian men’s No.1 Bernard Tomic’s final-eight match against Teymuraz Gabashvili on Thursday night on Ken Rosewall arena.
