Laslo Djere has knocked Australian Alexei Popyrin out of the French Open in a tight 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 second-round tussle.
Wildcard Popyrin, 19, had his chances against the impressive Serbian but failed to grab any of his six break points in the two hour, 15 minute contest against the nerveless 31st seed on Wednesday.
The Sydney-born, Spanish-raised talent will still leave Paris in a better position, forecast to rise six spots to No.103 in the world and just inside automatic grand slam qualification.
