Play resumes at US Open after rain delay

Andy Roddick, playing what might be the last match of his career, began his fourth-round match against Argentine seventh seed Juan Martin Del Potro on Tuesday as play resumed at the rain-hit US Open.

US 20th seed Roddick, the 2003 US Open winner who says he will retire after the tournament, took the court at Arthur Ashe Stadium against the 2009 US Open champion after a stoppage of about three hours.

Prior rain delays stopped matches for about 75 minutes and 88 minutes and US Open officials decided to push the completion of the Maria Sharapova-Marion Bartoli quarter-final match to Wednesday. Bartoli led 4-0 when play stopped.
