Open wildcard playoffs getting underway

Top seed James Duckworth will begin his quest for an Australian Open main-draw spot against Tasmanian Harry Bourchier when the wildcard playoffs get underway at Melbourne Park on Monday.

Second seed Jordan Thompson is up against Matt Reid as he bids to win the Australian Open wildcard playoff for the third straight year.

Olivia Rogowska is top seed in the women’s event and will take on Kaylah McPhee first up.

Both draws feature 16 players with the respective winners looking to join 99 of the world’s top 100 men’s and women’s players in the main draw of the season’s first grand slam event starting on January 18.
