Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams odds on to win Wimbledon 2013 titles

A record number of big name casualties in the early rounds of Wimbledon has seen a flood of money come for the top seeds, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams, to claim this year’s Wimbledon titles.

“I can’t remember another grand slam where so many good players have been beaten or pulled out in the first two rounds,” Centrebet’s Michael Felgate said.

“The shock losses of Nadal and Federer in the men’s draw have turned the tournament into a two-man race according to punters. Djokovic has been heavily supported from $3 pre-tournament into $1.80. The only other player backed to beat him is local hope Andy Murray $4.50 into $2.25,”

“Murray is never going to get a better chance to win a Wimbledon title. He should waltz into the final and plenty of punters have jumped on the Scott, but the weight of the UK and Djokovic could still prove too tough,” Felgate said.

Serena Williams is one of the shortest priced favourites in grand slam history at $1.22 to take out the Women’s Wimbledon title for the sixth time.

“With her arch-enemy Maria Sharapova already out, barring injury you can’t see anyone getting near Williams and that includes Aussie Sam Stosur who is on track to meet her in the 4th round,” Centrebet’s Michael Felgate said.
