Muller to face Roddick in Atlanta final

P – Luxembourg’s Gilles Muller reached his first ATP final since 2005 on Saturday with a comfortable victory over eighth-seeded Go Soeda of Japan at the ATP’s Atlanta Open.

Muller, ranked 63rd in the world, fired 17 aces en route to the 6-4 6-3 win in 74 minutes, breaking Soeda once in each set.

Muller is seeking to win his first ATP title after twice finishing runner-up – in 2004 in Washington and in 2005 at Los Angeles.

He will face Andy Roddick in the decider after the fourth seed beat fellow American and top seed John Isner 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 6-4.

Roddick, who will be chasing his 32nd ATP Tour title, will team up with Isner as US doubles partners when the Olympics begin next week at Wimbledon.

Isner was attempting to win his second straight event for the first time in his seven-year career, but fell short in Atlanta for the third straight year. He lost to Mardy Fish in the past two Atlanta finals.
