Muguruza into her second Wimbledon final

Garbine Muguruza has marched into her second Wimbledon final with a brutal straight-sets win over shellshocked Slovak Magdalena Rybarikova.

Spain’s 2015 runner-up needed just 65 minutes to sweep past Rybarikova 6-1 6-1 in one of the most one-sided semi-finals in Wimbledon history.

“I played very well for sure,” Muguruza said.

“It was a tricky match because she’s a very talented player.

“She’s played very well all tournament but today I stepped on the court super confident and it went very well”

Chasing her second grand slam title in 13 months, Muguruza will play either five-time champion Venus Williams or big home hope Johanna Konta in Saturday’s title decider.

The 2016 French Open champion has been in imperious grasscourt touch all tournament, taking out four top-20 rivals en route to the last four, including world No.1 Angelique Kerber in round three.

Facing the fourth-lowest-ranked woman to ever reach the semi-finals at the All England Club, Muguruza made her intentions clear from the outset.

She raced to a 5-0 lead in the blink of an eye, Rybarikova winning only 12 points in the first five games before finally getting on the board.

Muguruza clinched the set in half an hour neat with a booming serve down the middle that the world No.87 feebly prodded out of court.

The 14th seed – who lost the 2015 final to Serena Williams – continued the onslaught in the second set as Rybarikova’s throwback grasscourt game of slices, drop shots and lobs was unable to compete with the Spaniard’s firepower.

Stalking the Slovak’s second serve from a metre or more inside the baseline, Muguruza hammered a backhand return winner down the line to break her again for a 3-0 lead.

The match was all but over as a contest.

Trailing 4-0, Rybarinkova needed 10 minutes to hold serve for only the second time and avoid a humiliating Centre Court bagel.

But the reprieve was nothing but a stay of execution as 23-year-old Muguruza broke Rybarikova for a fifth time to storm into the final.
