Nick Kyrgios has powered into the quarter-finals of the Washington Open after a typically temperamental performance against Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka.
The 24-year-old Australian fired off 31 winners and 16 aces in a 6-2 7-5 victory.
Kyrgios, now the last remaining Australian in the tournament after Jordan Thompson lost to Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 7-6 (7-4), will face Slovakian world No. 137 Norbert Gombos.
