Defending women’s champion Petra Kvitova has withdrawn from the Sydney International tennis tournament.
It is the second consecutive event the world No 6 has pulled out of in the new year, having retired with a stomach virus during the first round of the Shenzhen Open in China last week.
The Czech was slated to open her campaign against Germany’s Sabine Lisicki on Monday.
