Petra Kvitova will begin her French Open campaign buoyed by the news that the man suspected of attacking her with a knife has been detained in custody.
The two-time Wimbledon champion suffered tendon and nerve injuries to her left hand when she was robbed at her home in the Czech Republic in December 2016.
Kvitova made her comeback from the horrific attack at last year’s French Open, and gave her reaction to the news from her homeland ahead of this year’s Paris tournament.
“Well, of course, great news for me to hear that. It’s great that they have him in custody,” the 28-year-old said.
“But probably the most, the happiest I will be when the story will end, when everything will be done and finished.”
