Klizan beats Bedene to advance in Croatia

Seventh-seeded Martin Klizan of Slovakia advanced on Monday to the second round of the Croatia Open by defeating Aljaz Bedene of Slovenia 6-2 6-2.

Klizan is playing for the first time as a seeded player in Umag. He easily defeated the Slovenian wild card Bedene, dominating the match from the start.

Also on Monday, Russian wild card Andrev Kuznetsov won his first match on the ATP tour of 2012 by defeating Spain’s Daniel Munoz-De La Nava 6-3 5-7 7-6 (7-5).

For a place in the quarter-finals, Klizan will play Matthias Bachinger from Germany, who saved two match points against Joao Sousa from Portugal.
