Fourth seed Maria Kirilenko has survived a tough encounter with Australia’s Anastasia Rodionova to reach the quarter-finals at the PTT Pattaya Open in Thailand.
The Russian lost the first set and then fought back from 5-2 down in the decider to triumph 2-6 6-3 7-6 (7/3) and set up a last-eight clash with home veteran Tamarine Tanasugarn, who defeated qualifier Kai-chen Chang 7-6 (9/7) 6-3.
Top seed Vera Zvonareva comfortably saw off Uzbekistan’s Akgul Amanmuradova 6-3 6-3, and the Russian will next meet Romanian seventh seed Sorana Cirstea, a 6-2 6-2 winner over Misaki Doi on Wednesday.
