Croatian veteran Ivo Karlovic has recovered from his marathon Australian Open first-round win to eliminate Australian wildcard Andrew Whittington.
The 20th seed – who on Tuesday set a record for the longest Australian Open match by games since the introduction of tiebreaks in his opening clash against Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos – backed up to oust the unheralded Victorian 6-4 6-4 6-4.
Whittington, 23, climbed almost 400 places in the rankings last year to No.194.
