Rising Australian tennis player Omar Jasika has been awarded a wildcard into the main draw of Australian Open.
Jasika, 18, a US Open junior singles and doubles champion from 2014, slashed his ranking from 841 in October 2014 and is currently world No.311.
The Victorian lost in third round qualifying for the 2015 Open.
This year he has won ITF titles in Korea and Canada.
“I can’t wait to play the Australian Open,” he said.
“It will be my first time in main draw singles at a slam and to be able to play in my home town at this level is unbelievable.”
Former world No.1 Lleyton Hewitt and James Duckworth are the other Australian men to receive one of the eight wildcards on offer with two spots yet to be decided.
