Hobart tennis wildcard for Hantuchova

Slovakian tennis veteran Daniela Hantuchova has scored a wildcard for the Hobart International just three days before the start of the tournament.

The world No.62, a former Australian Open semi-finalist, was confirmed in the main draw on Thursday after being knocked out of the Auckland Classic a day earlier in three sets by Poland’s Urszula Radwanska.

Despite a recent niggling knee injury, Hantuchova has finished in the WTA top 100 for the past 14 years.

The 31-year-old will join world No.29 Australian Casey Dellacqua, who is headlining the event, as well as American Sloane Stephens and Britain’s Heather Watson.

The Hobart International official draw will take place on Friday.
