Fourth-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer defeated France’s 13th seed Richard Gasquet 7-5 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 on Tuesday to reach the US Open quarter-finals.
Ferrer will face either Serb eighth seed Janko Tipsarevic or Philipp Kohlschreiber, the German 19th seed, for a place in the semi-finals.
