Federer win sets up Isner final in Miami

Roger Federer is through to his third consecutive final at the Miami Open after overwhelming Canada’s Denis Shapovalov in a 6-2, 6-4 semi-final victory.

In their first ever meeting, 19-year-old Shapovalov made a series of errors in what was a nervous performance to hand Federer the first set lead with two breaks of serve.

Federer, who won his 100th career title in Dubai before losing the Indian Wells final to Dominic Thiem, dominated the exchanges in the second set to confirm his place in Sunday’s showpiece after 72 minutes.

The three-time Miami Open winner will meet defending champion John Isner, after he prevailed 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4) in the other semi-final against another Canadian teen Felix Auger-Aliassime.
