Federer steams into Indian Wells semis

World No.2 Roger Fededer ousted ninth-seeded Tomas Berdych 6-4 6-0 to book his spot in the semi-finals of the Indian Wells ATP Masters.

Federer remains on course for an unprecedented fifth Indian Wells title as he set up a clash with the winner of the Friday’s (Saturday AEDT) other quarter-final between Rafael Nadal and Milos Raonic.

Federer said it was nice to get a quick match out of the way ahead of Saturday’s (Sunday AEDT) semi.

“To get a match like this against a top guy gives you confidence,” he said.

If Nadal beats Raonic it will be the first time since the 2012 Australian Open the foursome of Federer, Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic have reached the semi-finals of the same tournament.

Federer, who is making his 14th appearance in Indian Wells, won here in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2012.
