Australia’s No.5 tennis player James Duckworth will miss the first half of the year after foot surgery.
The world no.107 had an operation on Friday to ease pain in his foot.
“All went well and I hope to be back on court as soon as possible,” he posted on Instagram.
The 24-year-old said he expected to resume playing in around five months – shaping the way for a possible Wimbledon qualifying campaign.
Duckworth made a first-round exit from the Australian Open this year, losing in four sets to Italian Paolo Lorenzi.
