Djokovic cruises through to third round

Keeping things quick in very warm conditions, defending US Open champion Novak Djokovic wrapped up another easy victory to reach the third round, beating 112th-ranked Rogerio Dutra Silva of Brazil 6-2 6-1 6-2 on Friday.

Djokovic didn’t face any break points and finished with more than twice as many winners, 29, as unforced errors, 14. He needed a little more than 90 minutes to make sure he would keep intact his record of never having lost to a player ranked outside the top 100 at a major tournament.

The second-seeded Serb has dropped a total of seven games through two matches this year at Flushing Meadows.

Dutra Silva never has reached the third round at a Grand Slam tournament.
