Dellacqua takes to court in Hobart

Hobart International top seed Casey Dellacqua will open her account at the southern capital tennis tournament on Monday feeling fit and ready.

The world No. 29 comes off three singles losses at the Hopman Cup in Perth but says the match practice has been crucial as she eyes a big 2015.

“I feel good. I’m hitting the ball well and the body is really good, I’ve just got to get out there and play now,” Dellacqua told reporters in Hobart on Sunday ahead of her match against America’s Lauren Davis.

Dellacqua said she played some “quality” opponents in Perth and has learnt something from each match.

She is expecting to be tested by world No. 54 Davis on Monday.

“She’s a really tough opponent – a really good mover and gets a lot of balls back,” Dellacqua said.

“I’m going to be up for a real challenge and I’m going to have to play good tennis throughout the match to win this one.”

Dellacqua and Davis are the third match scheduled for Hobart’s centre court, following Australia’s wildcard contender Storm Sanders, who is up against world No. 33 and the tournament’s third seed, Italy’s Camila Giorgi.

Britain’s Heather Watson meets Slovakia’s Magdalena Rybarikova on an outside court.
