Top seed Casey Dellacqua has recovered from a first-set bagel to book her place in the semi-finals of the Australian Open wildcard play-off at Melbourne Park.
Dellacqua advanced with a 0-6 6-1 6-2 victory over sixth seed Monique Adamczak and will face Tammi Patterson on Saturday for a place in Sunday’s final.
Patterson upset fourth seed Jarmila Gajdosova 7-5 2-6 6-3 in her quarter-final on Thursday.
In the other two quarters, Viktorija Rajicic beat Jessica Moore 6-2 3-6 6-2 and Arina Rodionova had a walkover against the injured Storm Sanders.
The men’s semi-finals between last year’s playoff winner, third-seeded Ben Mitchell, and former junior Australian Open champion Luke Saville and top seed John-Patrick Smith and Jordan Thompson, will be held on Friday.
