Doubles ace Casey Dellacqua is one win away from securing a singles berth at next month’s Australian Open after charging into the wildcard playoff final at Melbourne Park.
Dellacqua, who reached three grand slam doubles finals with fellow Australian Ashleigh Barty in 2013, defeated eighth seed Tammi Patterson 7-5 6-3 in Saturday’s semi-finals.
The top-seeded Dellacqua will face Arina Rodionova in Sunday’s final.
Third-seeded Rodionova beat Viktorija Rajicic 6-1 6-4 in her semi-final.
The men’s wildcard playoff final between Jordan Thompson and former Wimbledon junior runner-up Ben Mitchell will also take place at Melbourne Park on Sunday.
