Australian teenager Alex de Minaur has bowed out of the Estoril Open after a straight-sets defeat to Britain’s Kyle Edmund in Portugal.
Third seed Edmund looked in complete control at a set and 4-2 up only for Brisbane International semi-finalist de Minaur, 19, who received a wildcard for the event, to win the next three games.
Edmund broke again to lead 6-5, however, and served out a 6-2 7-5 victory after an hour and 37 minutes.
The British No.1, who recently reached his first ATP Tour final on clay in Marrakech, is guaranteed to face a Portuguese opponent next, either Joao Sousa or Pedro Sousa.
