Court rules Sanchez Vicario can chase cash

A Spanish court has ruled in favour of tennis great Arantxa Sanchez Vicario to reopen an investigation into her family for allegedly siphoning off 16 million euros ($A22.60 million) of her earnings.

A judge in a Barcelona court on Thursday ruled in favour of the appeal Sanchez Vicario had lodged to overturn a previous court decision to close the case.

In addition to her father Emilio and brother Javier, the lawyer Bonaventura Castellanos Matarrodona and economist Francisco de Paula Oro Clot will also have to testify before a judge.

Sanchez Vicario won the French Open three times and the US Open once.

In 2012 she published a book in which she blamed her family for losing 60 million euros ($A84.74 million) in career earnings through mismanagement.
