French Open champion Garbine Muguruza will take on unseeded Alize Cornet for a spot in the Brisbane International final after winning her quarter-final on Thursday.

The Spanish world No.7 took nearly two hours to dispense of Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova, winning 7-5 6-4 at Pat Rafter Arena, to advance to the final four.

Cornet beat Dominika Cibulkova in straight sets earlier on Thursday, claiming her second seeded scalp of the tournament so far.
